PALO ALTO PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING
AND GARAGE

The TEN OVER STUDIO team entered into a RFP and design competition for the Palo Alto Public Safety Center which included a police headquarters station, 911 communication center, emergency operation center, and combined police/fire administration.

Our design proposal reduced the project schedule by 12 months and reduced the construction cost by $12 million. Our team developed specific design strategies for the public safety building and the parking garage that would have greatly simplified the building systems and construction materials.

While hardening of new public safety centers was required for security, we still designed a civic facility that was welcoming to the citizens of Palo Alto. Our architectural and engineering approach met the design requirements for a mission critical facility. We had strategies in place to enhance security for the entire campus, provide redundancies of secured ingress/egress as well as mission critical building systems. Our progressive energy conservation strategies resulted in a net positive energy project.
