Novo Restaurant has been serving locally grown, internationally-inspired fare in an old cigar factory perched on the creek in Downtown SLO since 2003. We were asked to improve the flow and circulation of the interior bar and exterior dining patio and to redesign the interior finishes and materials while maintaining their iconic, eclectic theme.

The interior finish and material selections were inspired by Moroccan design and old world materials that will patina with time. The use of varying wood patterns and applications in complimentary tones add to the layered quality of the space. The durable ceramic tile used at the back of the bar echos the rich “Novo Blue” that we used to color the walls with a soft and warm roman clay. Mixed and matched vintage glass pendants combined with modern LED cove lighting create an ambient glow which reflects off of the aged mirrors creating a rich ambiance as you enter the bar.
